RentVision
Last summer, I worked at RentVision as a UI/UX Design Intern, where I enhanced the UX for RentVision Platform, a client-facing web product that offering backend management services for property managers. I developed my skills in various pillars including visual design, interaction design, design systems, and cross-functional collaboration with developers.

Streamlining Property Management
RentVision Platform (RVP) is a client-facing platform that allows multifamily companies to manage their properties, with features including revenue management, ad analytics, website management and analytics (frontend marketing sites provided by RentVision).
This summer, RentVision needs to update the visual design and streamline key functionalities in RVP. As a UI/UX Design Intern, I redesigned key pages and interactions to help improve clarity, simply user flows, and foster visual cohesiveness in RVP to create a better user experience for our clients.
Visual Design
Apartment marketing & management can feel complex. In order to create a cohesive and streamlined experience for our clients, I redesigned key pages to enhance clarity, focus, and overall usability.
Data Export Page
To reduce clutter and improve visual focus on the Export page, I aligned all buttons and reorganized the layout to visually separate content & settings versus the action buttons.

To further enhance clarity and prevent confusion between the two actions, I focused on refining the button hierarchy. The primary action 'Export' is made more prominent as a filled button, while the secondary action is differentiated and deemphasized by replacing the button with an underline.

Ad Analytics Page
For Ad Analytics, my goal was to make key metrics and trends easy to read and focus on. I reorganized the page to group and align all numeric metrics separately from visuals, as well as enlarging key metrics to improve visibility.

Interaction Design
Our clients have reported inefficiencies they experienced with certain functionalities in RVP, so I worked on enhancing usability and intuitiveness of key interactions. Some highlights include:
Floorplan featuring
This feature allows the client to select floorplans and their orders to feature on their apartment marketing sites. The original flow includes a 4-step interaction.
In my redesign, I designed a 2-step 'select & drag' interaction, reducing repetitive clicks to improve user efficiency and intuitiveness.

Amenity settings
This feature allows clients to manage the amenities that they display on their marketing sites. In the original page, the vertical list displays one amenity per row with all detailed setting options, which necessitates excessive scrolling to make navigation inefficient.
To improve this, I wrapped amenities into columns of checkboxes. Settings now display only for selected amenities in a new section below, improving space efficiency and eliminate unnecessary content.

Design System
To ensure cohesiveness across all RentVision's web platforms, including both RVP and marketing sites, I redesigned and standardized 50+ icons with consistent visual styles and colors:

Reflection
As my first internship, I grew a lot as a designer. I applied a lot of design principles and skills I learned to industry-level work impacting the experience of real clients. Collaborating with my fellow engineering interns and project manager has also been a rewarding cross-functional experience. In addition, I fostered some great friendships and lasting professional connections!
